Tata Motors Spearheads Eco-Friendly Change with New Vehicle Scrapping Facility in Chandigarh

Tata Motors, a leading automobile manufacturer in India, has recently inaugurated its fourth Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Chandigarh, Punjab. This facility, named ‘Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect,’ represents a significant advancement in the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility. The state-of-the-art facility is developed and operated in partnership with Dada Trading Company and is equipped to scrap both passenger and commercial vehicles of any brand, emphasizing eco-friendly initiatives​​.

The facility is purpose-built for dismantling end-of-life vehicles across all brands, focusing on employing environmentally friendly practices. It is fully digitalized, featuring dedicated cell-type and line-type dismantling for commercial and passenger vehicles, respectively. The operations are seamless and paperless, with dedicated stations for the safe dismantling of various components, including tires, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids, and gases. Every vehicle undergoes a meticulous documentation and dismantling process, ensuring the safe disposal of all components in accordance with the vehicle scrappage policy​​.

Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, emphasized the facility’s role in promoting a circular economy and cultivating a culture of recycling. He stated that the launch of this facility in Chandigarh is a testament to Tata Motors’ commitment to reducing carbon emissions and creating a greener, cleaner environment. The initiative is aimed at encouraging vehicle owners to retire older, more polluting vehicles, thus contributing to the adoption of newer, safer, and more fuel-efficient vehicles​​.
