Bharat Electronics Secures ₹2,167 Cr Navy Order

Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL), a Navaratna company, has clinched a significant order valued at ₹2,167 crore from the Indian Navy for the supply of an advanced electronic warfare suite designed for deployment on-board warships. The contract was signed on February 13, 2024, according to a regulatory filing by the company.

What is the electronic warfare suite?

The electronic warfare suite is a state-of-the-art system that can detect, identify and counter various types of threats from enemy radars, missiles and communication systems. It consists of various components such as radar warning receivers, jamming systems, decoy launchers and electronic support measures. The suite can provide situational awareness, self-protection and offensive capabilities to the warships in a complex electromagnetic environment.

This includes additional orders worth ₹114.59 crore since the last disclosure on January 30, 2024, for the supply of software defined radios, high definition very low frequency receivers, electronic voting machines and other products. The company’s shares closed at ₹176.45 on February 13, 2024, up by 1.06% on the BSE.
