Chakshu Portal is a new facility launched by the Government of India as part of the Sanchar Saathi portal, a citizen centric initiative by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to empower mobile subscribers, strengthen their security and increase awareness about citizen centric initiatives of the Government .
What is Chakshu Portal?
Chakshu Portal facilitates citizens to report the suspected fraud communications with the intention of defrauding telecom service users for cyber-crime, financial frauds, non-bonafide purpose like impersonation or any other misuse through Call, SMS or WhatsApp.
Some examples of suspected fraud communications are communication related to Bank Account / Payment Wallet / SIM / Gas connection / Electricity connection / KYC update / expiry / deactivation, impersonation as Government official / relative, sextortion related etc.
How does Chakshu Portal work?
Citizens can access the Chakshu Portal through the Sanchar Saathi website or mobile app. They can report any suspected fraud communication received within last 30 days by providing details such as their mobile number, date and time of communication, type of communication (call/SMS/WhatsApp), sender’s number, content of communication and reason for suspicion.
The portal will verify the details and forward the report to the concerned telecom service provider (TSP) for further action. The TSP will take necessary steps to block or disconnect the fraudulent number and inform the DoT about the action taken. The portal will also update the status of the report to the citizen.

Chakshu Portal aims to provide a simple and convenient way for citizens to report and prevent fraud calls and messages that may cause financial loss, identity theft, data breach or other harm. By reporting such communications, citizens can help the Govt and TSPs to identify and stop the sources of fraud and protect themselves and others from becoming victims.
Chakshu Portal also helps to create awareness among citizens about the types and signs of fraud communications and how to avoid them. The portal provides useful tips and resources on how to safeguard one’s personal and financial information, how to report financial fraud or cyber-crime cases, how to check genuineness of devices while buying a new/old mobile phone etc.
