In a landmark move, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPWD) and the National Human Resources Development Network (NHRDN) have signed a memorandum of understanding on the closing day of the International Purple Fest in Goa. This strategic collaboration aims to aggregate employment opportunities for Divyangjans through the innovative PM-DAKSH-DEPWD digital portal.
A pivotal step
This MoU marks a pivotal step in expanding the Department’s outreach, fostering connections with HR professionals nationwide. The objective is to amplify efforts in facilitating meaningful employment opportunities for Divyangjans, fostering a more inclusive and diverse workforce, according to the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
A digital portal
The PM-DAKSH-DEPWD digital portal is a one-stop platform that connects Divyangjans with potential employers, provides skill development and career guidance, and offers financial assistance and incentives. The portal also showcases success stories of Divyangjans who have overcome challenges and achieved their goals.
A vision for the future
The DEPWD and the NHRDN hope that this partnership will inspire more organisations and individuals to join hands in empowering Divyangjans and creating a more accessible and equitable society. The International Purple Fest, which was held from January 14 to 16, 2024, was a celebration of the achievements and aspirations of Divyangjans, featuring cultural events, exhibitions, workshops, and panel discussions.
