L&T Infra Development Sold to Edelweiss Alt for Rs 6,000 Cr

Edelweiss Alternatives, a leading Indian alternative asset manager, has sealed the highly anticipated acquisition of L&T Infrastructure Development Projects Ltd (LTIDPL) for a whopping Rs 6,000 crore. This deal, first announced in December 2022, marks a significant stride forward for Edelweiss Alt’s presence in the Indian infrastructure sector.

Acquisition Significantly Expands Edelweiss Alt’s Infrastructure Portfolio

The strategic acquisition brings Edelweiss Alt a substantial portfolio encompassing seven operational roads spanning a vast 4,400 lane kilometers and a critical 960 circuit kilometer power transmission line. With this powerful addition, Edelweiss Alt’s infrastructure platform now boasts an impressive 26 assets. This comprehensive portfolio includes 5,000 lane-km of roads, 1,800 ckms of power transmission lines, and a significant 813 MWp of renewable energy projects, generating a combined annual revenue of Rs 3,000 crore.

L&T Streamlines Focus Through Divestiture

For Larsen & Toubro (L&T), the sale aligns with their strategic plan to streamline operations and sharpen their focus. By divesting LTIDPL, L&T can reduce its exposure to asset-heavy development projects, which often tie up significant capital.
