Healthcare for Millions: Ayushman Bharat Crosses 5 Crore Accounts Milestone in Campaign Push

NEW DELHI: In a significant development for India’s healthcare sector, the Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) has reached a new milestone with the creation of over 5 crore accounts during the ongoing Ayushman Bhava campaign. This achievement underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing public health infrastructure and accessibility across the nation.

The Ayushman Bharat campaign, known for its comprehensive coverage, offers free treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh per annum per family at empanelled hospitals. The recent report by the Union Health Ministry indicates that over 4.4 crore Ayushman cards have been generated during this campaign, reflecting its extensive reach and impact.

A central feature of this campaign has been the Ayushman Arogya Mandir Melas and Community Health Centre Melas, which have cumulatively attracted over 11 crore visitors across 13.8 lakh health melas till December 28. These melas have been instrumental in providing diverse health services including wellness activities like yoga and meditation, teleconsultations, and distribution of free medication. Notably, 9.21 lakh sessions of wellness activities were conducted, and more than 1.02 crore teleconsultations were provided.

Furthermore, the campaign has been pivotal in offering free drugs to around 6.4 crore people and free diagnostic services to 5.1 crore individuals. A significant focus has also been placed on Ayush services, benefitting 74.04 lakh people, and lifestyle counseling, which reached nearly 11 crore people. Maternal and child health services have also been a priority, with over 45 lakh pregnant mothers registering for early care and immunizations provided to around 30 lakh mothers and 50 lakh children.

In terms of screenings, seven types of screenings, including TB, hypertension, diabetes, and various cancers, were conducted for 18.9 crore people. The Community Health Centre Melas alone registered 1.54 crore people, offering general and specialist outpatient services to over 1.6 crore patients, and conducting nearly 1.7 lakh surgeries, both major and minor.

These impressive figures not only reflect the campaign’s success in bringing health services to the masses but also underline the government’s dedication to improving public health infrastructure and access across India. The Ayushman Bhava campaign continues to make strides in ensuring comprehensive health coverage and care for the Indian population, aligning with the nation’s broader healthcare objectives.
