Infosys’ AI-First Tech Enhances Australian Open 2024 Experience

The Australian Open 2024 (AO24) is not just a tennis tournament, but a showcase of how artificial intelligence (AI) can transform the game and the fan experience. Infosys, a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting, is partnering with Tennis Australia to bring AI-first technologies to the centre court and beyond.

AI for fan engagement

Infosys is using its AI-first set of services and solutions, powered by Infosys Topaz, to deliver innovative digital platforms that engage fans with data, insights, and generative AI features. Some of the highlights include:

  • AO 2024 Bracket Challenge vs AI: Fans can test their predictive skills against AI by making predictions for the entire tournament and the daily matches on AO’s website.
  • Infosys Match Centre with Gen AI Story Cards: Fans can access contextual insights in a card-like format as the match progresses, as well as match story visual cards that narrate the story of a match using Gen AI.
  • Win Predictor: Fans can see the probabilities of victory for each player as the match progresses on court, based on AI analysis of historical and real-time data.
  • Graffiti-inspired AI art and VR: The Fan Zone features a series of graffiti portraits of Rafael Nadal and Iga Swiatek, created using generative AI technology powered by Infosys Topaz. Fans can also take selfies with them using Augmented Reality and play against Rafa in a VR tennis match.
  • Rafa Forever: Infosys also launched an all-new Gen AI experience that invites millions of fans missing Rafa at AO to celebrate his legacy by creating personalized messages using his voice and style.

AI for player performance

Infosys is also leveraging AI to enhance player performance and coaching by providing winning insights and analyses through a series of features. For example:

  • AI Videos: Players competing at AO24 have access to AI curated playlists that serve up winning trends and analyses of every possible opponent.
  • AI Shot of the Day: Media teams can quickly post the highlights from each day’s play, packaged as social media ready clips, using AI to filter through every moment of every match.

AI for digital skilling

Infosys and Tennis Australia are also collaborating for AI-enabled digital skilling, by giving year 10 and 11 students from metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria and New South Wales access to curated learning powered by Infosys Springboard. The platform aims to build future leaders in Australia by equipping them with digital skills and competencies.
