Noida International Airport Prepares for Takeoff: IndiGo to be the First Carrier

IndiGo, India’s largest airline, will become the first airline to start flight services from the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA), marking a significant step in enhancing air connectivity in Uttar Pradesh and beyond. This development follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IndiGo and NIA. The MoU outlines a strategic partnership that focuses on developing and strengthening air connectivity within Uttar Pradesh and beyond, fostering innovation for operational efficiency and an improved customer experience.

The Noida International Airport, located in Jewar, is set to become operational by the end of 2024. In its first phase, the airport will feature one runway and one terminal, with a capacity to handle 12 million passengers annually. Subsequently, upon the completion of its fourth phase, the airport aims to accommodate up to 70 million passengers each year, thereby establishing itself as a major aviation hub.

The CEOs of both IndiGo and NIA have expressed excitement and commitment to this partnership. Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, emphasized the airline’s dedication to enhancing connectivity and providing seamless travel experiences for the residents of Uttar Pradesh. He also expressed anticipation for the inauguration of the new airport in 2024. Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport, highlighted the collaboration’s aim to not only strengthen air connectivity but also to innovate and ensure exceptional experiences for passengers, leveraging IndiGo’s expertise to provide unparalleled connectivity and travel experiences.
