Sony Pictures Entertainment has partnered with Prime Video India to launch a new OTT service called Sony Pictures – Stream. The service will offer international movies, popular TV shows, and content from SonyLIV and Crunchyroll India on Prime Video Channels. The service is available at an introductory price of Rs 399 per year.

Sony Pictures Entertainment is one of the leading media conglomerates in the world, with a vast library of award-winning films and critically acclaimed television series. Some of the titles that will be available on Sony Pictures – Stream include Charlie’s Angels, Men in Black, Peter Rabbit, Ghostbusters, Jerry Maguire, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Mad About You, and Diff’rent Strokes.

The launch of Sony Pictures – Stream comes after the recent collapse of the merger agreement between Sony’s Indian media unit, Culver Max Entertainment, and Zee Entertainment. Culver Max Entertainment operates SonyLIV, a streaming service that offers live sports, original shows, and regional content. Crunchyroll India is an anime service owned and operated by Sony Pictures Television.

Prime Video India is a leading streaming platform that offers a wide range of content across genres and languages. Prime Video Channels is a content aggregation service that allows Prime members to subscribe to various OTT channels with a single login and billing. Prime Video Channels currently offers 22 OTT channels, including BBC Player, BBC Kids, Discovery+, Lionsgate Play, Eros Now, and Docubay.

Vivek Srivastava, India head of Prime Video Channels, said that the collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment will allow them to offer their customers a curated collection of movies and shows from Sony’s extensive library. Sonika Bhasin, Vice President – South Asia of Sony Pictures Television, said that they are thrilled to work with Prime Video to super-serve Indian audiences with content from SPE’s library.

Sony Pictures – Stream is the latest addition to the growing OTT landscape in India, which is witnessing intense competition among various players. According to a report by PwC, India’s OTT market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 28.6% from 2019 to 2024, reaching $4.5 billion by 2024.
