At the core of this expansion is the launch of flights to Lakshadweep, marking a significant step in the airline’s growth trajectory. Ajay Singh, SpiceJet’s Chairman and Managing Director, revealed these plans at the company’s annual general meeting.Exclusive Rights and Strategic PlansThe airline has secured exclusive rights under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) for Lakshadweep. This move is set to streamline the current connectivity to the region, replacing the indirect route through Kochi with direct flights to Agatti Island, Lakshadweep’s sole airfield.Funding and Future ProspectsA large portion of the recently raised funds will be allocated to this expansion, enhancing the airline’s network and operational capacity. This development follows a critical stakeholders’ meeting and is expected to bring grounded planes back into service, contributing to a more robust and resilient SpiceJet.Beyond Lakshadweep: Connecting AyodhyaIn addition to Lakshadweep, Ajay Singh also disclosed plans to initiate flights connecting Ayodhya with multiple cities across India, further expanding the airline’s reach and services.
