Telangana Government and World Economic Forum Partner to Set Up C4IR in Hyderabad

A landmark agreement for health tech and life sciences

The Telangana government and the World Economic Forum (WEF) have signed an agreement to establish the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in Hyderabad, the capital city of the southern Indian state. The agreement was signed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and WEF president Borge Brende during the ongoing WEF-2024 annual conference in Davos, Switzerland.

The C4IR will be an autonomous, non-profit organisation and the only such of WEF in India with a thematic focus on healthcare and life sciences. The Centre will leverage the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, genomics, and biotechnology to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare services in the state.

A launch event at BioAsia-2024

The C4IR will be officially launched on February 28 as part of the BioAsia-2024 conference, a flagship event of the Telangana government that showcases the state’s achievements and potential in the life sciences sector. The launch event will witness the participation of eminent global leaders, industry experts, policymakers, and innovators.

The C4IR will work closely with the state government, academia, industry, and civil society to co-design and pilot innovative solutions for health tech challenges. The Centre will also facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration among the global network of C4IRs established by the WEF in various countries.

A vision for a healthier Telangana

The Chief Minister expressed his happiness over the partnership with the WEF and said that it aligns with his vision of providing better healthcare, technology, and a good life for the state’s four crore people. He said that the C4IR will help in designing the state health tech landscape and transforming Telangana into a global health tech hub.

The WEF president praised the state government for its proactive and progressive policies and initiatives in the life sciences sector. He said that the C4IR will support the state’s efforts to harness the power of the fourth industrial revolution for enhancing health outcomes and creating social impact.
