This order is aimed at transforming BSNL’s Optical Transport Network (OTN) infrastructure across its pan India network.

The scope of this project is comprehensive, encompassing the supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of OTN infrastructure. HFCL plans to upgrade BSNL’s network through OTN at over 300 large network nodes and 2000 amplifier sites. The completion of the entire installation process is ambitiously projected within an 18-month timeframe.

This project is seen as a key step in revolutionizing BSNL’s Optical Transport Network, addressing the heightened demands of Enterprise and FTTH/Broadband services. It is strategically positioned to facilitate the seamless launch of 4G services and the anticipated rollout of 5G services. Mahendra Nahata, Managing Director at HFCL, emphasized the project’s importance in advancing the nation’s technological prowess and positioning BSNL at the forefront of India’s digital revolution.

In partnership with NOKIA Network, HFCL will deploy state-of-the-art optical technology to create a network with a data capacity of 12 terabytes. This is expected to meet BSNL’s data needs for the next decade. The upgraded backbone network, spanning 310 aggregation locations, will be crucial in empowering 4G, 5G, and BharatNet services.

Following the announcement of this order, HFCL’s shares experienced a 3% surge, reflecting the market’s positive response to this significant development. This project is anticipated to make a substantial contribution to India’s digital evolution, especially in the face of escalating demand for broadband connectivity.

This transformative project not only underscores HFCL’s commitment to innovation but also represents a milestone in the evolution of India’s communication landscape. The collaboration with NOKIA Network aims to deliver cutting-edge solutions that transcend industry standards and redefine technological excellence.
