Transformational Project Sees 389 Schools Inaugurated by Odisha CM

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated 389 schools in five districts of the state on Thursday, as part of the government’s transformational programme under the 5T initiative. The 5T framework, which stands for teamwork, technology, transparency, and time leading to transformation, aims to improve governance and citizen delivery.

What is the 5T Initiative?

The 5T initiative is a groundbreaking approach to good governance that was launched by Patnaik in 2019. It is based on the principle that effective teamwork, use of technology, transparency in processes, timely delivery of services and transformation of systems will lead to better outcomes for the people. The initiative covers various sectors such as education, health, tourism, agriculture, urban development and others.

Schools in Five Districts

The schools that were inaugurated are located in Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Bargarh districts. The highest number of schools (149) have been transformed in Patnaik’s home district Ganjam, followed by 112 in Kendrapara, 57 in Jagatsinghpur, 11 in Jharsuguda and 60 in Bargarh. These schools are equipped with smart classrooms, computers, laboratories, playgrounds and libraries.

Fourth Phase of Transformation

This is the fourth phase of the school transformation programme that was started by Patnaik on February 16, 2021 from Hinjulikatu in Ganjam district. A total of 1,794 schools across the state will be covered in this phase. In the earlier three phases, as many as 6,883 schools have been transformed with better infrastructure and facilities.

Importance of School Transformation

Patnaik said that schools play an important role in shaping the future of any society and education leads to development and progress. He said that the government attaches much importance to school transformation and has made provision for 15 percent reservation for the state-run school students in medical and engineering institutions. He advised the students to adopt the principles of 5T in their lives and take the opportunity of studying in transformed schools to ensure a better future for themselves.
